Current MCW membership is in the 60's. We meet monthly in Rockville, MD, and we would be pleased if you would join us for a demonstration and for fellowship.

For the second year, the Montgomery County Woodturners Web Site and Newsletters were each, independently entered into and judged in the respective 2009 AAW Chapter Contest competitions. The results were a FIRST PLACE for our Web Site [designed by Doug Pearson and now maintained by current Webmaster, Bert Bleckwenn] and a tie for FIRST PLACE for the 2008 Newsletter [edited by Bert Bleckwenn]. We are pleased for the continued recognition (we won Second and First last year). It is noteworthy that this year’s awards were selected by a completely new and independent set of judges.
This is quite an achievement for our young chapter. Bravo and kudos to Bert, Doug, and all our contributors. We are proud of the work done by all our officers and volunteers and thankful for the continuing support of our Membership at our meetings, without which none of this would be possible. You all share in this accomplishment.
This year’s wins are recognized on the AAW site at www.woodturner.org/community/chapters/chapter_contests_2009.htm
and on the AAW Chapter Hall of Fame page at www.woodturner.org/community/chapters/chapter_contests.htm.
They should also be announced in a future issue of American Woodturner.
We provide cameraderie and education through demonstrations and discussions at monthly meetings, through articles in the monthly newsletter, and by access to a wide array of information on our web site. As one of more than 300 local chapters, we encourage members to also join the American Association of Woodturners (AAW), providing even more educational resources through a quarterly journal, web site, resource directory, and annual symposiums.
MCW is a local chapter of the American Association of Woodturners. The AAW is an international non-profit organization dedicated to the advancement of woodturning and has over 13,000 members in 27 countries. Many of these members also belong to one (or more) of the AAW's local chapters. Although MCW is a local chapter of the AAW, an individual's membership in this chapter does not imply membership in the AAW or vice versa. Membership in AAW is encouraged as it provides an additional source of great information (quarterly journal, national symposiums, members-only resources) and services not available with MCW. Visitors and guests welcome. Please join us if you're in the area. Come and learn about the art and craft of woodturning.
We look forward to seeing you!
