Platter turning and decoration – Jeff Chelf

There will be a $10 demo fee.

Jeff Chelf will be turning a platter for us. He will demonstrate tool control to

create the platter you had planned. He will also show us how to unlock the

secrets of texture. In this demo he will discuss the uses of various texturing

tools and their applications from platter bases, to their potential in spindle

turning. Attendees will leave with the confidence to add more

ornamentation to their turning, and with the knowledge to buy the right tool

for their needs.

“Having started my professional career as a wooden boat builder, I have a

great appreciation for objects that are more than the sum of their parts.

Whole days are spent making individual pieces on a boat, many seemingly

unimportant, but all of them ultimately vital in the final project. I see a

imagine any other life for myself.
